I have a confession to make.
Sunday night I found myself cursing humanity.
"Where have all the good people gone?!!!" I demanded to Jay.
It all started early Saturday afternoon. Jay and I loaded up the beagles and Minky
and took off to Tahoe for the afternoon to celebrate my birthday. We were just approaching Yuba when Jay realized he had set his wallet and phone on his tailgate before driving off. Shoot!! So we backtracked all the way home and searched hard for our lost items but they were nowhere to be found.
Jay insisted we still drive up to the lake. So on the drive back up to Tahoe
we called and canceled every card and his phone service. I had a pit in my stomach
mainly because his phone had loads of Minky videos and pictures that we had not backed up on our computer and I was creating the worst scenarios in my head now that some stranger
had our information...
On Sunday evening I figured they were long gone since it had been over 24 hours and
that's when I started cursing humanity and all of their schenanigans that lack integrity
and honesty and goodness and kindness and on and on I went...
Y'all, I spoke too soon.
Monday afternoon my mom called and told me that someone had
tracked her number down and had Jay's phone and wallet.
There are still good great people in this world apparently.
In yo' face Katy Nicole.
Come to find out...
this sweet little college girl had found Jay's belongings and spent her
weekend trying to find us
{insert Katy Nicole begging Jesus for mercy...BIG TIME HUMBLED}.
I met this darling girl and exchanged a Starbucks card for Jay's items.
I thanked her over and over and told her how much I appreciated her honesty.
I thanked her over and over and told her how much I appreciated her honesty.
Her integrity spoke volumes to me.
What matters most is who we are when nobody is watching.
The decisions we make when we are all alone...whether big or small.
The decisions that are stored away in the heart, left only for
ourselves and God to know...
and He does know.
I hope that sweet girl receives extra blessing because of her honesty.
And enjoys a few lattes that remind her of her rockin' character.
Humanity I am really sorry for cursing you...there are honest people
hangin' around after all.
Thank you college girl for the much needed reminder.
