I can't believe it's already August. Judging by the amount of sand in the boys' bathtub and the lack of tidiness in my home...I'd say it has been a pretty darn good summer. I needed summer to come. I was in a bit of a funk. Exhaustion, postpartum, life, and busyness crept up on me and hit me hard at the beginning of this year. It feels so good to be back.
Greyson and Declan have been a blast this summer. I think they huddle together and devise a daily plan to keep me on my toes. They are like two little river otters constantly on the go. Grey spends his days creating and building and imagining... while Declan spends his days snacking away and following every move that Grey makes. Together they are quite the combination... and they have this mama hooked. I seriously dig being their mama.
Jay and I snuck away in July to camp and enjoy a weekend alone. I had no idea just how badly we needed that time away together. It felt good to take a break and have fun outdoors. I had to remind him that this mama still has loads of adventure and sexy in her. I guess it worked because he formally invited me to spend THREE DAYS with him at DEER CAMP this fall. He even mentioned that I could take the place of his best friend on the hunt. I was seriously pumped and HONORED. I am not quite sure how I feel about dead animals but I'd hang in a deer blind with that man any day...
My heart is full and grateful these days. Excited to see all that God continues to do in our lives. I am reminded daily of His faithfulness and love. Some days are hard and discouraging but more than ever I find myself coming back to His word and promises. He is my rock and constant in this ever-changing, often times confusing world.
